Participating in the SPGs youth mobility in Romania broadened my horizons and enriched my knowledge, transforming my approach to new situations and social contexts that we experience on a daily basis. Not only did I have the opportunity to visit a new city and discover its history and culture, but I was also able to exchange with locals and young people from other European countries. This exchange focused on important issues that united us, allowing us to understand each other’s points of view and break down the barriers of diversity. We worked in groups on social issues such as gender equality, climate change and immigration, sharing not only our personal experiences, but also the cultural, social and environmental experiences of our countries. A particularly interesting aspect was the discussion on the topic of immigration, approached through the technique of the Theatre of the Oppressed, which is partly inspired by Pirandello’s theatre. In this format, we staged a topical issue such as immigration, with actors narrating and representing the topic. Then, we broke down the ‘fourth wall’ and involved the audience, making them part of the issue and inviting them to interact and propose solutions. I returned enriched by a unique experience, which offered me a new and unexpected perspective.
