Final Project Event: Brussels!
The SPGs project is coming to an end, which leaves us sad and happy at the same time: sad because we will say goodbye to wonderful colleagues and participants, but happy because we know we have achieved great things in this important project through our work, engagement, results, and cooperation with participants, local stakeholders, and authorities. The feedback we received from our participants was heartwarming, illustrating the important space that SPGs took in their hearts and souls. It was amazing to see "our" youth blossom into self-confident, inspiring persons who are on a mission to improve Europe.
To celebrate the end of the project, SPGs brought 13 youth ambassadors from Italy, Romania, Portugal, and France to Brussels to talk personally to MEPs, their assistants, EU officials, local youth workers and local organisations and they did a great job representing their peers, the project, and their own ideas and ideals!

The first point on our agenda was a visit to the European Parliament, where we were greeted by Italian MEP, Brando Benifei, who had been following the SPGs project since the beginning, when we met him during out first training event in Brussels in March 2023. We got to update him about the developments and results in our project and he happily accepted a copy of our SPGs Recommendation Paper, after personally addressing our youth ambassadors.
After this encounter, we took a peek into the European Parliament's impressive Hemicycle where the parliament meets for its plenary sessions.

Following this exciting visit, it was already time for the project's big final event, where the youth ambassadors presented their recommendations, ideas, and requests to MEPs and their assistants and handed out the SPGs Recommendation Paper which summarises first-hand what they have to say: what they expect from their MEPs, what their realities are at home and how their situation could be improved, starting on a policy level.
Some of our youth ambassadors in action:

In the afternoon, we all had the chance to visit the European Commission, sit down in one of the meeting rooms and get some first-hand information and insights into European policies, legislation, and into how the European system works.

The second day of the mobility was dedicated to field visits, where our youth ambassadors had the chance to look into different organisations in Belgium to see how they work and what they do to improve the situation of others.
First, we went to see Serve The City Belgium, a volunteer NGO which takes care of homeless, asylum seekers, the elderly, the disabled, children in need, victims of abuse. We learned about their mission and how they prepare and deliver food for people in need. While hearing the stories and explanations, our youngsters got inspired to get active themselves in their home countries.

In the afternoon, we visited, our whole group visited Dynamo International a youth center for disadvantaged youth in Brussels, heard more about their projects, cooperations, activities, and volunteers.

Our visit to Brussels was a truly inspiring experience which left everyone with lasting impressions and motivation to carry on this important work! A big THANK YOU to our amazing youth ambassadors from Italy, France, Portugal, and Romania for their fantastic job, for being brave, for growing with us, and for caring for their future and for others!
